The sweetly deceptive face of a troublemaker. |
Anyway, even though it was her fault for misbehaving and costing us $700 (YIKES), I felt terrible that she had to stay at the vet and get pricked on every few hours. So, I made her a cake before she came home. Some of her favorite foods include peanut butter (duh), bananas, carrots, and apples. She would seriously devour a bowl of baby carrots if I let her. This recipe uses all of her favorites with just a few extra ingredients. I made mine in a big ramekin but a smaller one might work better and make it more cupcake shaped. She went nuts over this cake so I think it's safe to say it's a hit.
Daisy's Favorites Cake
Makes 1 cake - large dog sized, sharing size for medium to small dogs.
1 egg
1 tsp baking powder
3 Tbsp. creamy peanut butter
1 medium banana, mashed
½ medium apple, finely chopped
5 baby carrots, finely chopped
2 - 3 Tbsp. flour (if needed)
Preheat oven at 350ยบ. Mix all ingredients well. Batter should be slightly thicker than normal cake batter. If the batter seems too wet, add flour one tablespoon at a time. Pour batter into ramekin and bake for 20 minutes, checking center with toothpick. If desired, frost with creamy peanut butter.
If you make this and your dog loves it (or hates it) let me know!
*Inducing vomiting is something every dog and cat owner should know how to do. We all know how they get into things and think the best way to dispose of them is in their stomach's. Check here to read more about it and how much hydrogen peroxide to give. It really can save their life. We just put the right amount in a shot glass, and while one person holds her head steady and mouth open, the other dumps it down her throat.
